A History Of The Title Sequence from jurjen versteeg on Vimeo.
This is a life action video plus 2D vector graphics. It is a fictitious documentary title sequence. The documentary will talk about the title sequence history and the revolutionary title designers.
In this case, it is a really good idea to using the life action video with digital elements. It is not just using digital graphics to represent the title sequence. Because of the elements are used in the video, it gives the historical feeling to audience. All the stuffs in the video such as table, chair, pencil, ruler, lamp and ink are really simple design that we can tell there are not nowadays design products. These old stuffs suit the theme and the topic very well with the warm and beautiful light. The lighting in this video also is excellent. The light, shadow and the warm tone are working very well to display the strongly historical feeling. Even I have no idea about those title designers, I can guess the 2D victor graphics and the way that it presents the title designers name are actually base on those revolutionary titles. There are just a few simple shapes in the vector graphics but they does get the point of the main idea. It is really nice angles during video shooting which are mostly top views or topside views.
Video plus animation is a clever style in this motion graphic. The rhythm is neither really fast nor really slow. The music is a little bit briskly but somehow it fits the video. Last but not least, it is the "WINNER OF THE VIMEO AWARDS 2012 in CATEGORY MOTION GRAPHICS".

Participant Media - Pledge to See this Film from Buck on Vimeo.
This is an info-graphic animation. It talks about the graduation rate in America is really low and people needs more consider about this issue. The animation is to warning people in USA there are a lot of student cannot have a good or high education. It is asking people to realize that education problem is really serious.
The background color in this motion graphic is nearly white with a little bit red tone. The most stands out colors that are the heaviest using colors are pink and blue. That is a perfect contrast between these two colors, one is warm and one is cold. I like the way they putting some metal textures on this two colors, it creates a variation of those colors that people will not get bored. The animation is mainly using circles to represent the data. About the balance, mostly graphics are in the middle to draw audience attention that is fit to the video purpose.
The style of this motion graphic is 2D digital illustration animation, it use simple vector graphics and illustrations to analyze the information data. The animation movements are really good. Even just a circle shape, it represents by twist effect, rain drop effect and color wheel effect, etc. The animation transform are really quick, and then slow down to show the graphics. The overall rhythm is fast that give people a feeling of this education problem is serious and important now.

NYT - Circle Squared from HunterGatherer on Vimeo.
This is a 3D stop motion graphic which I like to talk about. The 3D animals are built in square but they telling a circle life story. It is just like the Rock Scissor Paper game. The story tells us that the end of one story might be a new begins of another one.
The color in the video is good, simple colors but not too shiny. The background color is white and little bit black feather at the edge, which is a very safe color and brings the depth of field to the audience. At the beginning of this video and during the first one minute, the tone is slightly cold because of the colors being using in the video are mostly cold colors such as green, purple, blue and grew. After that, the tone turns to very warm to showing the sunset then turns very cold to showing the midnight. It is really clever to just using tone changes to tell audience that is pass one day or even many days. The shape in this video as I mentioned before is mainly using squares, it is a good shape to easily show the characters colors, shades and shadows. The simple shape like squares can help audiences put more attention to the story not just the characters. For the balance in this video, mostly character sits on 1/3 of the page, which is following the Rule of Thirds gets trotted out.
The style of the animation is 3d stop motion graphic base on wooden square characters. There are a lot of simple movement are using in this animation such as zoom in to the character, jumping forwards and walk/swim left to right, etc. Mostly rhythm in the video is slow, but at the climax part goes a lot quicker for representing the tense feeling to the audience. Overall the animation is slow rhythm at the beginning and goes quicker, then goes slow again at the end.
