Project03 Final

Synopsis

My idea is called the shape and space. It is based on my original two ideas. I create the monitor with 2 shapes, the heart shape in front view and the letter shape in side view. So when people walk to different side they can see different shape. When the projector plays the moving images on it, it will create the shadow on the wall and outline what shape is it.  Because the monitor is not a real flat monitor, it is a kind of box create by two shapes, so it shows up two screens which are the wall and the shape monitor surface in one side when projection on it. That creates the depth of field from projector to the wall. It connects the object and the background together so it looks interesting.

Methodology

During the projection, it shows continuing moving images from the front view to side view, so it becomes a three-dimensional monitor object. In this case, every monitor box needs to use two projectors, and there are three monitor boxes, which means that it needs six projectors in total. The three monitor letters are “ART”, combine with the heart shape, it create the “I love Art”

feeling to highlight that we are Multimedia and Digital Arts students. Depending on the moving images, there are so many functions to play with the monitor objects and the background wall.

Planning

I plan there are two monitor objects at two corners, and the other one is in front of one side wall with forty-five degrees.

For the two monitor objects at the corners, it is the normal projection. For the one with forty-five degrees monitor object, because the background wall is not parallel so that will stretch the scale of the moving images, it is interesting when showing some long scale images in this way. This is a draft-planning picture, and at the real exhibition, it should be more space between the monitor objects to let audience walk around and check out all the moving images.

Testing

After the planning, I made a little model and went to exhibition room using projector test the effects.

This is the model I have made, the left one is the front view and the right one is the side view.

When I test the object, I find out that it will be interesting if background wall is not flat, so we can keep it in mind, maybe it is useful for building the real exhibition room.

Semi-permanent

I went to Semi-permanent last week. Its really useful and inspire me a lot, I learned a lot during the Semi-permanent. I like the Supervixen team and the FUEL VFX team the most.
Here is a really simple 3d animation create by Supervixen team. I like this kind of works, simple but cool.

Mac vs PC

This is a life action video combine with 3D animation. I can learn something from this video. By the way, the video is really creative and cool.

T-SHIRT WAR!! (stop-motion music video)

The idea is really simple, just using many T-shirts to make a short animation, but the effect is really cool. The little animation really inspire me.

Stan Munro Toothpick Art

Stan Munro started Toothpick City in 2003 with his wife supporting him all the way. She even helped him spend the money when Toothpick City was sold in 2005.
Right now he is working at new Toothpick City. “The new Toothpick City represents mankind’s quest for the heavens, whether spiritual or physical. The exhibit will honor architectural achievement, religious diversity, and historical accuracy,” Stan says.

Concept for project 2

I am thinking about doing a video.

The story is that a Chinese boy has a spirit( maybe small and simple shapes with some Chinese elements female) around him no matter where he go, but he can't see the spirit. The first scene will be the boy wake up and the spirit wake up as well with sleepy face, and it follows the boy customary. But he actually is going to toilet, so it comes out from the door and its face look embarrassing. He went to school, study, have class, do homework, go to library, read books, review the books, find out a job, live with his own money, etc. and the spirit always around him. That will be a lot of stories happen with the boy which i haven't think clearly yet, but will have something like go to drink, go to meet friends, meet a girl he like, all the little stories, the spirit still around him. There are some happy stories, some sad stories, some exciting some boring. But after all this stories, one day, the spirit disappear, and when the boy wake up, he find out that today is different, he can't tell why, but seems like he lose something that is really important and he feel really upset. and that is the end.

so the story tells us, people always don't care about or forget something important(like parents love), but when you lose it, you will feel so sad. so the spirit is kind of a symbol meaning of his mum, always care about the boy support him and around him, but one day she will leave you. so treasure that now, do not wait for the end that important people past over.

The Posthuman

I quite like to play fighting games suck as King of fighters, Street fighters and Takken.
There are so many cool characters beat each others with awesome movements and their own powers.
So I try to find out some good videos about those cool fighting.

After that, I start to make something like those style. I create my two main characters.


Meanwhile, teacher suggests me have a little story before the fighting.
I try to make the story like a beginning of old film, so it has white spots and white lines on top.

but for animate fighting part, i found it is really hard to make, so i try to watch more videos, even the records from other peoples replay.

for the ending, i make it from real fight turns out two characters use rock scissor paper, so it is kind of a surprise funny ending.

Alfred Stieglitz

I quite enjoy photography, and my favorite photographer during early 20th century is Alfred Stieglitz.
He is the guy bring out Photo-Secession. Photo-Secession is a viewpoint that what was significant about a photograph was not what was in front of the camera but the manipulation of the image by the artist/photographer to achieve his or her subjective vision. For this point, it means the photos can tell stories by photographer, not just meaningless pictures to record the scenes. He bring out this new theory, and change the photography from meaningless picture to art.
He also form a group to produce he and his group members art works, and that group is called 291.

i watched some 3d animation during the holiday.
Megamind, a blue guy from other planet, because he grown up in prison, he became a bad guy, and fight with a white muscular guy called Matroman. But one day, he finally kill the white guy, he found it is really lonely and he create a new hero for the city. But the new hero dont wanna use his super power to protect the matro city, so he turns out the bad guy. Megamind find out Matroman is not dead, but he find out what he really wanna do, so Matroman lets Megamind to be the hero, protect the city. At the end, Megamind beats the new bad guy and protect the city.
It is really funny 3d movie.


Despicable me, a bad guy as well, wanna become the most bad guy in the world, so he make a plan to steal the moon, but there are 3 little girls come into his life, and then the story turns out he is the good guy and fight with the other bad guy. I really like the characters, the little yellow stuff is really cute and funny.
